I'm surprised at some of the negative review this place has received, the food is absolutely delicious, even better than some of the upper scale Korean restaurants in my neighborhood.

Had weekend lunch here recently and it was very good. The Yuukhwae (sp?) bibimbop was excellent. Very flavorful tartare with shiitakes and various veg. Delicious. My friend's grilled atka was also very good though it's a really bony fish. Their parking lot is a boon in KTown. The environment is old school booths, pleasant and quiet. The service was excellent. Very attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. The only thing I wasn't thrilled with was the banchan. 3 different types of kimchee, bean sprouts, chestnut gel. Might just be my unfamiliar palate but I wasn't crazy about any of them and banchan is one of the fun things about Korean restaurants. Not enough contrast between them and too intensely garlicky for me. Also, it's relatively highly priced for a casual lunch. Wish I could rate it 4.5 stars.

AMAZING authentic Korean restaurant that you must try! My mom who is an OG Korean told me to try this restaurant and said it was a favorite amongst all her Korean family/friends. I can see why! It's very spacious inside with two different seating areas and it felt very nice and clean. They offer an extensive menu of everything you could dream of. We ordered the mul nengmyun & braised spicy black cod. First of all, the banchan is legit and soo tasty! They had acorn jelly , yulmu kimchi, kongnamul, zucchini stir fry, and more. The mul nengmyun was so refreshing and had a nice balance of savory with a hint of sweetness and tang. The noodles were perfectly chewy and thin. Add the yellow mustard and a splash of vinegar for some extra oomph! The spicy braised cod was tender, flaky, and bursting with flavor. They do a great job balancing flavors here! This dish comes with complimentary seaweed soup which was rich and flavorful. The brown rice with beans was also perfectly cooked. The waitresses were all incredibly sweet and attentive! Free parking lot across the street. Please try this authentic Korean restaurant, you won't regret it!

This is a very good, traditional Korean restaurant that also has some Japanese food and sushi. The restaurant has been around for a very long time and the owners are very nice, the food quality is very high. It has become uncrowded recently because of more trendy restaurants in Koreatown, but I still come here anytime I'm around. I'd love the kalbi and the mandu Kuk soup and the sides. The waitresses are all really nice and the Soju is delicious There is plenty of parking and they have their own lot across from the restaurant Overall, this is a hidden gem

Food 4.5/5: all the sushi was really fresh but I wish banchan (side dish) was better. We paid $240 for 2 orders of Japanese sushi course. One order is $120 each, but it was not clear on the menu so you have to watch out lol all the courses were good quality and provided a lot of food for $240 I suppose. Service was 4/5: friendly but only because she did not specify the course price correctly. It's very easy to miss on the menu. It's labeled $120 and states minimum order of 2. Ambiance is outside tents but inside. Pretty unique and they have their own designated parking lot so that was convenient. I think this place is overpriced for sure.

Kang Nam restaurant is a place my late grandpa used to frequent and now I know why This is my second time here in a span of two weeks because that's how good it is I've always passed by this place but can't believe I have never been here until now when they were doing business since 1982 They have so many selections on their menu from Korean to Japanese food but what I love and will be coming back for more is the ross pyunchae (thinly sliced seared sirloin with veggies) and yukhweh (beef tartare) The first time we tried here, we ordered doshirak and hweh dup bap (mixed sashimi and veggies over rice with gochujang sauce) The doshirak was mediocre but the hweh dup bap was really good with a generous portion Oh, and I'm a huge banchan lover and this place def checked off the box They close a bit earlier than other restaurants even on the weekends (9:30PM) so we got it for take out both times but the service was still there The lady who took my order was very kind and friendly on the phone and also when we picked up the food The interior is a bit outdated but if the food and service is on point then that shouldn't even matter, right?
